Liberty returns home for its 150th anniversary interiors collection, The House of Liberty. In celebration, the design house turns to its illustrious past, documented in the drawings and manuscripts by the pioneering designers and forward-thinking artists of the time. Brimming with richly detailed hand-drawn illustrations of carved oak staircases, wall panelling, tiled fireplaces, and stained-glass windows, the Liberty sketchbooks unveil the aesthetic legacies treasured in the Regent Street flagship.
The interior fabric and wallpaper collection draws on pivotal moments that have defined Liberty as the leading tastemaker and artistic innovator of interior design. Framed by the rich textures and relaxed glamour of bohemian botanicals lies the genesis of Liberty. Discovered in the renowned 60,000-strong design archive, high Victorian maximalist-style paisleys, embellished embroideries, and ‘70s style florals are complemented by characterful geometrics and formal stripes. Inspired by the sophistication of artists, poets, and playwrights from the sensuous Aesthetic movement, The House of Liberty embodies the decades’ cultural shifts in a captivating array of harmonious juxtapositions.
Echoing the grandeur of the Tudor architecture discovered within the Liberty flagship store, the building’s landmark chimneys are evoked in Tudor Brick’s geometric pattern. Crafted from handmade bricks inspired by those found at Hampton Court, each of the Regent Street store’s chimney bricks are shaped from special moulds to create unique patterns. Carefully woven with a cotton-linen blend, Tudor Brick is appropriate for upholstery, drapery, cushions, and accessories.
