In celebration, the design house turns to its illustrious past, documented in the drawings and manuscripts by the pioneering designers and forward-thinking artists of the time. Brimming with richly detailed hand-drawn illustrations of carved oak staircases, wall panelling, tiled fireplaces, and stained-glass windows, the Liberty sketchbooks unveil the aesthetic legacies treasured in the Regent Street flagship.
The interior fabric and wallpaper collection draws on pivotal moments that have defined Liberty as the leading tastemaker and artistic innovator of interior design. Framed by the rich textures and relaxed glamour of bohemian botanicals lies the genesis of Liberty. Discovered in the renowned 60,000-strong design archive, high Victorian maximalist-style paisleys, embellished embroideries, and ‘70s style florals are complemented by characterful geometrics and formal stripes. Inspired by the sophistication of artists, poets, and playwrights from the sensuous Aesthetic movement, The House of Liberty embodies the decades’ cultural shifts in a captivating array of harmonious juxtapositions.
Reminiscent of 1930s Liberty floral prints, the Tana Lawn™ cotton classic, Thorpe, was skilfully created as a colourful, repeating design by the Liberty design studio in 1968. Now reimagined for contemporary interiors, Painted Thorpe has been repainted using watercolours for a nostalgic, rambling meadow look. A signature for Liberty interior florals, this design offers an interplay of pattern and form suited to modern spaces. Printed on a beautiful linen base in an exciting selection of multi-colourways, Painted Thorpe is suitable for upholstery, drapery, cushions, and accessories.
