The World Around Annual Dinner 2024

To mark 150 years of Liberty, the design house has formed a creative partnership with The World Around. In support of their critically acclaimed programmes and events, the Liberty design studio has created two bespoke prints, Zenda and Atwell.

The design identity for The World Around Annual Dinner is a trompe l’oeil style geometric print, first created for Liberty in 1964 by the multitalented Bernard Nevill, a former Liberty Design Director. Reimagined into a napkin and table linen design for the gala dinner and a unique scarf, Atwell’s intertwining circles have been expertly overlayed with The World Around’s unique logo, conceived by renowned graphic design studio, 2x4. Visually arresting and brimming with a contemporary yet timeless aesthetic, this eclectic composition showcases an organic interplay of depth, scale, and colour.

Initially printed at Liberty’s historic Merton Printworks in 1958, Zenda showcases a characterful geometric pattern. This design melds hand-drawn architectural details into an imaginary cityscape. With a nod to mid-century abstraction, these graphic forms were meticulously engineered into a silk scarf by the Liberty design team, preserving the subtle textures of the original 1950s paper impression.
